There’s Only 1 U!

I’ve had this cross for about twenty years. Before I got it, I had looked for a silver nugget cross for a long time, but could never find one I liked. All of the ones I found seemed to have no character, nothing unique. They all looked the same.

I asked a friend who owned a jewelry store if she could find one for me, but she had about the same luck as I did.

One day, she came to my office and showed me this one. I was very excited! I couldn’t believe she had found THE ONE I wanted!

I asked her where she finally found it and she replied, “Well, I didn’t actually find it. I had my silversmith make it out of some scraps that were just lying around.”

Isn’t that cool? Scraps… Put together by a master craftsman… A thing of beauty. It has never broken. It has never tarnished and there is not another one like it in the world.

Psalm 139, verse 14 says “I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are your works and that my soul knows very well.”

Sometimes, our lives seem to be in shambles… just scraps that seem useless, but God is THE master craftsman. He puts the scraps of our lives together to make something that will not tarnish and will be of great value.

Let the Word of God encourage you today. You are one of a kind and he is pleased with you! He loves you!

What Is The Holy Spirit’s Role In Our Worship

July 8, 2013 by Joey Hughes Leave a Comment

Many worship services are held but true worship does not always happen. Excellent music cannot take the place of The Spirit’s Power in worship. Eloquent speaking cannot replace The Spirit’s Power in a persons heart.

Worship is allowing God to take center stage in our lives… no matter where we are.

Real worship only happens at the Spirit level when the Holy Spirit, who lives inside us, rises to magnify the Almighty God, giving Him the honor that is due Him and lifting up His Son, Jesus. No amount of planning, practicing, or preparing can take the place of The Spirit of God leading us into the presence of God.

Zechariah 4:6 ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.

1- He is our teacher

John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Ephesians 3:2-6 if indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you, how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already, by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel,

His tools are the Word of God and the experiences of our lives

2- He is our transformer

Romans 8:1-2 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

He allows us to live in God’s power by transforming us from the inside out.

3- He is the only Real Worship Leader

Philippians 3:3 For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh,

The Message Translation

The real believers are the ones the Spirit of God leads to work away at this ministry, filling the air with Christ’s praise as we do it.

John 16:14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.

He allows us to glorify the Father because He reveals God’s truth to us.

Does Your Praise Show What You Need Or What You Know?

April 22, 2013 by Joey Hughes Leave a Comment

In 2 Chronicles 20 we read of the day when King Jehoshophat and the army of Israel faced a great enemy. They were seemingly outnumbered and surrounded. The prophet of God came to before the King and the people to deliver the Word of the Lord.

In Verse 17, he says this: “You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”

How many times have we come before our Lord in a worship service and in the back of our mind thought: “If I can just dance hard enough or sing with enough emotion, maybe God will bless me today” or maybe we’ve had some bad report from the doctor or gotten an unexpected bill that we weren’t able to pay and thought: “If I can just clap enough or shout loud enough, maybe God will heal me or take care of that bill.”

Ok, maybe it’s just me who has done this, but I suspect not.

However, I have learned that coming to God and praising Him out of my need does not get His attention. It’s only when I praise Him from a position of knowing that He IS and HAS everything I will ever need that He comes and inhabits my praise.

I encourage you today to stand still and see the salvation of the Lord in your own life knowing that this present battle is not yours… It’s His… and He NEVER loses.

Position yourself!
